Pogosjan, 31, is currently riding a two-fight win streak and has been champing at the bit for his shot at a title. He joined Elevation Fight Team stablemate Alistair Overeem in Colorado for camp and embarked an arduous training regimen at St. Mary’s Glacier at 10,500 feet elevation. The heavyweight star encouraged Pogosjan to be stuck in perpetual winter training for the fight against Clark, driving 90 minutes to practice back and forth each day. Pogosjan believes he has gained a boost of 30 percent in cardio.
"Alistair has been like a big brother to me. He has taught me so much about the fight game and life in general," said Pogosjan. "I know victory requires sacrifice and investment and I’ve seen this first hand from him. I plan on staying cold-blooded, which will allow me to showcase my skills to their fullest against Dominic."
The 33-year-old Clark, a CXF champion and former wrestler from Fresno State, said he respects the Elevation Fight Team, but doesn’t care where or who Pogosjan trains with.
"I’m fighting Arut, not his training partners," said Clark, who trains and teaches at PKG Martial Arts Academy in Westwood, California. "He’s a tough guy who will bring a war, but my wrestling background is a great base to have for my BJJ and will always give me the option to control where the fight goes."
Clark, originally from Virgina, previously proposed to his now wife in the Lights Out cage after winning the CXF title. They now have a girl together, London, with another one on the way.
"It was an amazing moment in my life," said Clark. "After this win over Arut, I will be holding up the new LXF title on one arm and my beautiful baby girl with the other."
